Your missionDorel Juvenile is looking for a Senior Manager of Product Integrity to join the Research & Development Team in one of our two US locations (Columbus, IN or Foxboro, MA). The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective management skills as well as a strong emphasis on continuous improvement through the application of lean principles.
Key responsibilitiesLead and support development projects as an expert in QMS standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), change management processes, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R), Internal Audit and Management Review. Develop and administer the quality program, training and coaching of employees while facilitating change throughout the organization. Responsible for establishing strategic plans, DJ US policies and procedures at all levels so quality improvement efforts will meet or exceed internal and external customers’ needs and expectations. Develop necessary procedures and policies to assure standard practices are created throughout the organization in an effort to execute repeatable results. Develop and lead improvement initiatives/projects and deployment of quality related IT applications to improve data tracking and performance monitoring. Work with product development sites implementing system solutions to add efficiency, value and enhance existing applications. Responsible for the coordination and reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction and the effectiveness of the quality management systems. Analyze data and create proposals and feasible action plans to identify future risks and correct negative trends. Use analysis to initiate improvement projects at manufacturing sites with quality team. Actively lead a team of Quality Engineers and Technicians to partner with and assure product integrity within the new product development process. Support product field testing initiative to prevent potential in-use failure modes. Actively participate in ASTM standard development. Support supplier quality and global quality management initiatives as assigned. Work with regional quality personnel through functional and indirect reporting structures to achieve quality improvement objectives. Implement CPSIA compliance efforts in a timely manner to meet established governmental and customer deadlines. Assure products meet FDA requirements.
Your profileBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or related field along with 10+ years experience in the consumer product industry managing quality professionals in a product development setting. Must have strong leadership capabilities and a background in automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA) or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes associated with plastic molding, metal fabrication, fabric manufacturing and related assembly/test methods. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and peers. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize. Exhibits strong problem solving skills with experience solving difficult product issues in a team setting. Solid engineering background with an understanding of mechanics, form fit and function and electronics as they relate to consumer products. Ability to handle stressful/pressure situations in a professional manner. Must be able to effectively lead team and projects through risk management in crisis situations. Must be able to identify, interpret, and apply problem-solving tools such as root cause analysis and Value Stream Mapping. High level of interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, and partner across multiple levels of an organization and regions of the world. Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and Share Point. Solid understanding and responsible consideration of business decisions as they relate to and impact product quality and scheduling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management. Experience working with regulatory agencies including CPSC, FDA, FCC and Health Canada preferred. Certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Auditor through ASQ or equivalent is preferred. Experience working for a global company along with a background and experience in performance analysis and lean principles (6 Sigma for Product Development) preferred.
